Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance is an evidence-based fall prevention program that was designed to be used in community-based organizations. Accumulating evidence suggests that Tai Chi eight-form exercises are an effective means of improving balance, functional limitations, and muscle strength, which reduce the risk of falling.

In partnership with the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative, SAIL is an exercise program designed for seniors that can be done seated or standing. It consists of a warm up, cardio, balance, strength, and cool down. Julie Klineline will guide seniors in the movements designed to improve balance, strength and fitness. This class was made possible through a health literacy grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and federal funding by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This class will be held at the Wheeler Event Center, 103 N Wheeler Ave.

Tai Chi for Better Balance helps older adults reduce their risk of falling, while increasing their balance and flexibility. In partnership with the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative, Julie Klineline will introduce seniors to a series of slow, continuous movements. Classes will be held at the Indian Capital Technology Center in Sallisaw. Performing exercise that improves strength, balance, and fitness is critical for staying active and reducing the risk or falls. The SAIL program was designed with these principals in mind. 

Each class includes warm-up, stretching, cardio, balance, and strengthening exercise, as well as a cool down.
